Why "wide calf" boots still don't zip
You measured. You ordered the wide calf. You sat on the edge of the bed pulling the zipper up an inch at a time. Then you sent them back and wore booties again.
- It is still a fixed tubeMost "wide calf" boots are a set width of leather with a zip that has to close around the widest part of your leg. A little wider is still a guess.
- "Wide fit" usually means the footRead the fine print. Plenty of boots labeled wide are wide at the foot, not the calf.
- No calf measurement on the listingSo you find out on your bedroom floor, with one boot stuck halfway up your leg.
Boots are just made strangely skinny. So this one isn't a tube at all.
It pulls on like a sock. That's the point.
Nothing to zip, nothing to force. Three moves.
- 1
Scrunch it down
Gather the knit shaft down toward the sole, the way you would a sock.
- 2
Pull it up your calf
Slide your foot in and pull the knit up. It stretches around your calf instead of asking your calf to fit inside it.
- 3
Bend, walk, go
The knit settles around your leg and moves when you bend your knee. The lug sole does the walking.
Think of your favorite leggings, not a riding boot. The fabric does the fitting.
The knit adjusts to the leg it's on
Because the shaft stretches instead of zipping, the same boot sits close on a slim calf and gives on a wide one.
I returned three pairs of wide calf boots last fall. These went on like socks and came all the way up to my knee. I wore them out the same night.
Owned only booties until now
Dancer's calves. Nothing ever zipped, even the extra wide ones. No zip means no problem. I can bend my knee without anything digging in.
Muscular calves, size 8 foot
I measure my calves before buying any boot. This is the first time I didn't have to. They look good with jeans and with my sweater dresses.
Plus-size, wide calf
The lug sole actually grips, and the inside is soft. I folded a pair flat into my carry-on for a weekend away.
Wears them on trips
Wear it with everything you own
Knee-high boots are back every fall, and this time you get to wear them. The knit lies smooth under jeans and looks finished under a skirt, while the lug sole keeps it grounded.
- Skinny jeans
- Sweater dresses
- Maxi and lace skirts
- Leggings
- Mini skirts
Why it fits where the others didn't
No zip at all
Nothing has to close around your calf, so there is no zipper to strain, snag or give up halfway.
Stretch knit shaft
It gives around a 17.5 inch calf on camera and sits close on slimmer legs, instead of fitting one width.
Bends with your knee
No stiff edge digging into the back of your leg when you sit, kneel or climb stairs.
Chunky lug sole
Real tread underfoot, not a slick fashion sole that slides on wet leaves.
Soft lining inside
A fuzzy inside you can feel the moment you pull it on.
Folds in half
Tall boots that fold flat into a suitcase or carry-on.

Before you order
Will it actually fit my calf?
The shaft is stretch knit, so it gives instead of zipping. In the video at the top of the page it pulls over a 17.5 inch calf easily. Every leg is different, so if it is not right for yours, you have 90 days to send it back for a refund.
I've bought "wide calf" boots before. How is this different?
Wide calf boots are still a fixed width with a zip that has to close. This one has no zip and no fixed width. The knit stretches around your calf, so there is nothing to force shut.
What if my calves are on the slim side?
The knit hugs rather than hangs, so it sits close on slimmer calves too. You can hear that in the second video on this page.
Will a knit boot slide down?
It is a snug stretch knit, so it holds by hugging your calf rather than resting on it. Like any knit boot, expect a little natural slouch at the top over a long day.
Is there a zip?
No. You scrunch it down and pull it on like a sock. That is why nothing has to close around your calf.
Can I wear it all day?
The knit bends with your knee and the chunky lug sole grips, so it is built for errands, work and nights out, not just photos.
Is it for rain and snow?
It is a knit boot with a soft lining, made for fall and dry winter days. For snow or heavy rain, wear a waterproof boot.
What size should I order?
Choose your usual shoe size at the top of the page. The calf takes care of itself. If the size is wrong, the 90-day refund covers you.
How fast will it arrive?
Orders are processed in 1 to 2 days, then delivery takes 5 to 10 days.
What if they're not for me?
You have 90 days to send them back for a refund.
